Our people are one of the key strands of our vision at Anglo American. We have set out to become the leading global mining company by becoming theinvestor, partner and employer of choice. How we are perceived internally by our people and externally as a career destination are therefore key elements in our corporate brand.
Over the last year we have completed a comprehensive research programme to get closer to the answer to that question. In essence, three key areas of strength have emerged. Our people believe that we are defined and differentiated because we have the courage of our convictions; we encourage ideas and innovation; and we support people and partnerships.
By the ‘courage of our convictions’ we mean that we always strive to operate in an informed, responsible way, with the thoroughness and rigour that good mining demands.
‘Ideas and innovation’ is about pioneering new practices and thought leadership. We are proud to deliver both day-to-day improvements as well as the big step changes that move mining forward.
And finally, our strong record on ‘people and partnerships’ springs from our ability to connect people from different backgrounds and disciplines. We combine all the expertise and experience of our diverse, 100,000+ strong team to solve problems and add value.
